IBN RABDAN (RAS) (1917) a liver chestnut stallion bred by the Royal Agricultural Society (now the EAO - Egyptian Agricultural Organization). He was by Rabdan Al Azrak and out of the Hadbah Inzihiyah mare Bint Gamila - a solid son from two grey horses. In his day, he was considered an incredibly important sire, as noted by contemporaries such as Carl Raswan and Dr. Amin Zaher, D.V.M., M.S. - the then-Arabian horse breeder head of the RAS, a position he held for 12 years, and today this stallion appears more frequently in winning racing horses bred by the EAO than any other sire. In the United States, Ibn Rabdan helped establish the Babson Egyptian dynasty through his daughter *Maaroufa and his son *Fadl, both full siblings out of the mare Mahroussa. His paternal half-brother, *Nasr (ex Bint Yamama), was also imported to the United States by W. R. Brown for his Maynesboro Stud. Ibn Rabdan, however, remained in Egypt his entire life, and passed away in 1944 at the age of 27 - long enough to see the close of World War I and the approaching end of World War II.
